Getting Support and Help

It can sometimes seem as though other people are sailing through life while you are struggling to stay afloat.

The truth is that everyone encounters moments when they feel adrift, overwhelmed, or simply unsure of what to do next. When worries and difficult emotions build up, they can cloud your outlook and make everyday life feel heavier than it needs to be.

Speaking with a trained professional can offer clarity. A counsellor who understands how people think, feel, and respond can help you look at your situation from a different angle and support you in making choices that feel healthier and more aligned with how you want to live.

Reaching out for support can feel intimidating, particularly if therapy is new to you. Yet giving yourself the chance to explore what’s happening, understand your patterns, and learn fresh ways of coping often brings a deep sense of relief. It’s a step towards feeling more grounded, more capable, and more connected with yourself.

About Me

Counsellor & Psychotherapist - Emma Severne

Smiling woman with long grey hair standing in front of a painted wall.

For as long as I can remember, I have been deeply curious about people and the ways we relate to one another. This curiosity has always carried a sense of care. I am drawn to listening, to understanding the hidden layers of experience that shape how we feel and connect.

After many years in the corporate world, I began to feel a pull towards work that was more human-centred. I wanted to engage with people not just as colleagues or clients in a system, but as individuals with rich inner lives, with struggles and strengths that are uniquely their own. This led me to train extensively in Gestalt therapy, a journey that has deepened both my understanding and my appreciation of the present moment and the relational patterns that define our lives.

I approach counselling with warmth, curiosity, and kindness. I am quietly observant, attuned to the small details that reveal larger truths, and committed to creating a space where adults, couples, and those navigating addictions or relationship challenges can explore themselves safely. My aim is not to fix, but to accompany, to witness, and to understand so that insight, awareness, and growth can emerge naturally.
